School Supply Advice [05 July 2008 | 02:34pm] back_2_school [nachzes] I'm going to be going into the University of Alberta's (Canada, AB) Bachelor of Science in Nursing program this September (sooo excited!). I've already bought scrubs, the required stethoscope, and a pair of bandage-cutting scissors. I assume that soon I'll get a list of the required books for my courses and such. But I was wondering what kind of general school supplies you guys could recommend. In elementary/junior high, I did the whole one-binder-per-subject thing (as required), but gave it up as soon as I got into high school in favour of one-notebook-per-semester-for-everything, and kept all my notes in that, and kept handouts in duotangs specific to each class. I'm thinking that for university, I'll keep with the whole duotang theme, but I was thinking that I'll get one of those small scribblers for each class as well, just so my notes are more organized. I also have a MacBook Air, however, and the campus has Internet for students...so I was also thinking of just taking notes on the computer. I think that I like writing better...but I also got this laptop specifically because it's lightweight enough to haul around, and so I was wondering how many people could vouch for computer-specific note-taking, as opposed to handwritten stuff. (I don't hunt and peck, and I type fairly quickly...but then again, my writing is very neat, and I'm pretty sure I could keep up with the lecture pace. Umm...my other question is, what other kinds of school supplies would you guys recommend? You know, what kind of pens/pencils; are highlighters a must-have (if so, what kind? liquid or felt-tipped?); is white-out worth it, or is it a waste of time; are cue-cards helpful, or is notepaper better (or computer)? You know, just the general stuff. Thanks for any recommendations you may have to offer! 3 | comment
